ROY PORTER SOUND MACHINE - JESSICA
Roy Porter Sound Machine for Chelan USA from 1974.
Roy Porter: Drums - Jimmy Holloway, Leslie Hargrove: Guitar - Tollie Moore: Electric Piano - Bob Davis: Organ - Charles Jones: Fender Bass - Oscar Dye: Congas - Hense Powell, James Smith: Trumpet, Flugelhorn - Lester Robertson: Trombone - Jack H. Fulks: Tenor Sax, flute - Sone' Campbell: Tenor Sax.
Ridiculously hard to find private pressing out of LA from drummer Roy Porter and his Sound Machine.
Every cut a stone cold killer on this fully loaded breaks and beats bomb - shufflin' beats and drums all over ""Funky Twitch" fucked up funky latin madness on "Wow" while "Drums for Darryl" is a scrambler and drums duet and of course the organ grinder groove of "OOh La La".
All Killer No Filler No Doubt Whatsoever.

yes! thanks
Thanks Bacoso. How do you manage to get hold of such extremely rare and expensive LPs?
This one is surely enjoyable jazz funk (almost jazz rock at time with fuzz guitar and all) but is it conceivable that anybody would cough USD 2,000 for a LP? I like the music but I ain't that mad (yet).
Thanks again for sharing otherwise we'd probably never get a chance of hearing this album.
By the way, if you check the picture of the LP that went for 2247 USD, it still has a sticker "Our price $ 2.98". Talking about erosion of the dollar ...
Ridiculously Cool!
thank you...downloading now to listen
boogieman-I've got the jap cd reissue could never stretch to a vinyl copy!
Whew! THANK YOU for this gem!
WOW! Now this is awesome! Many thanks for such a funky gem. -Texas

Fucking epic, Roy Porter ... just imagine what having a few beers with that guy down Santa Monica way would be like.
wonderful sounds!
Thanks for making this easy to put on my iPod Bacoso; both his LPs on this label are just terrific.

So locked in time - but beautiful just for that reaons. Thank you a whole damn lot!
Thanks Bacoso! I signed up for blogspot just so that I could thank you for the wonderful music you have posted. This is my only comment, but I've downloaded many of the albums you have posted in the past and some of them have become favorites (the Mal Waldron albums Spanish Bitch and Tokyo Bound are in heavy rotation). Your work is greatly appreciated, even if it takes some of us a while to comment and let you know.
Bacoso,
Thanks for the Roy Porter post. Haven't heard that name in quite some time.
This is certainly better than expected. I only had his 'Inner Feelings' LP before, which I'd rate as half decent but this... It's so good, I commented twice!!
Wooooooord, thanks Bacoso!! I never seen/heard this one before.. @boogieman, the link you posted to discogs has a copy of this for $200-$300, just sayin'. That's still a good grip of cash that most non rich cats like myself can't afford anyways, but well below $2,000.
Again, thanks!!
Wow, what a gift! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Tribute to M.Thoedorakis, M.Petrucciani, Yma Sumac here http://goodmusipresszita.blogspot.com/

ta. Only had the title track and Party Time up to now.
Many thanks.
thanks for this one!
Massive respect! One of the most fervently progressive Jazz workouts to date, twisted genius of Drums for Daryl [do you know there was a cheeky 45 which spliced up this mammoth electro jam?] I need the Jap print, although I have broken myself too many times collectinf fiercely expensive Italo biz, I could never throw 2 grand at the first press! Keep these flavours rolling, sites like yours make owning a computer it worth while!
wow !
great album, thanks for that.
On "Drums for Daryl" is the synth that sounds like a motorbike part of the original recording?
