The New Heritage Keyboard Quartet for Blue Note from 1973.
Mickey Tucker, Piano, Clavinet & Harpsichord; Sir Roland Hanna, Piano, Harpsichord & Clavinet; Richard Davis, Bass; Eddie Gladden, Drums & Percussion
Another first in blogland at OIR for this '73 Blue Note outing-a great piece of dual keyboard improvisation supported by the sterling rhythm section.Check out the terrific reading of the old Eddie Jefferson fave " Zap Carnivorous" which kicks off the lp and the lovely latin lilt of "86 1/2"
From the sleeve notes:
It's not so much where Mickey Tucker,Sir Roland Hanna,Richard Davis and Eddie Gladden have been. It's where all of us are going that matters in this remarkable first offering by The New Heritage Keyboard Quartet.Mickey and Roland's keyboard wizardry, the insinuating and trailing moans of Richard Davis on Bass, and Eddie's percussive conversations furnish this chamber music for that mysterious future of ours.Bur best of all, this combo never violates our jazz given right to good blues and a compelling beat;never forget to invoke our toes as well as our heads.

same here! much appreciated Bacoso!
Thank you for posting this album. I have had this album since it was first issued (back in high school days) and it was always one of my favorites. I have been wanting to rip it to digital, but have not run into my copy yet...so thank you again for this album, your copy probably sounds way better than mine would anyway (back in my formative years I was never known to take the best care of my records).
harpsichord! clavinet! oh my.
I think I saw a reissue of this a while back but never gave it a listen then. Dumb!
Thank you!
Fantastic stuff. Only you could dig up a '73 Blue note that no-one knows AND it sounds great. The two players are giving each other space. Thanks Bacoso.
