Bobby Hutcherson for Contemporary from 1982.
Bobby Hutcherson (vib, mar, perc); Herbie Lewis (b); McCoy Tyner (p); Billy Higgins (d)
This is one of vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson's most unusual and interesting releases. The first half of the set features Hutcherson all by himself although, by utilizing overdubbing, he almost sounds like Max Roach's M'Boom ensemble. Hutcherson is heard on vibes, marimbas, bass marimba, chimes, xylophone and bells and these three selections are quite fun and energetic. The second half is more conventional, with Hutcherson welcoming pianist McCoy Tyner (in his first sideman appearance in a decade), bassist Herbie Lewis and drummer Billy Higgins for two standards and a pair of the vibist's originals. The quartet set is excellent but it is Bobby Hutcherson's solo performances that are most memorable and unique. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
Ripped @320 from the original vinyl.

Oh well. I must give up.
This new rapidshare enter four letters that have a cat is impossible to read.
:(
Wait! I got it after 3 attempts!!
Thanks. I dig Bobby a lot.
this guy is my hero. i actually bought him a "small lite beer" between sets when he was performing in camden. impossibly polite and completely spellbounding on stage. all his albums are must haves, with this one being no exception.
another great selection mr b
Wow - never heard of his one. I've been getting back into Inner Fire and that beatiful Hubbard solo on track one so discovering an unknown (to me) Hutch LP is serious news. Thank you, thank you. But man, Rapidshare has become a serious pain. The pressure almost worked on me a couple of days ago and I caved-in during a late nite "must have new tunz" session - I tried to buy a membership, but even then their damn payment line was a complete dead.
Wish I had more time to comment on your blog cos it's panning out to be a serious a modern day musical archive. Dude - keep on keepin on. Do you have a day job?
I'm a big Hutch fan. Thanks for this!
vibraphone solo is the healer, harmonics have such a peaceful effect on the mind! walt dickerson is my other favorite in that discipline
great stuff bacoso! sometimes i just need someone to tell me that it's ok to listen to somethng from the 80s , then i can take the plunge :)
Really enjoyng the multitracked side. ...
Thanks again for sharing from your deeper than deep collection
I've had this LP hanging around for years. I agree, the solo vibe material is the most ineteresting. The quartet stuff was disappointing to me at the time I purchased the LP, particularily because I had seen a few really hot McCoy/Hutch sets in the Bay Area around that time. However, some of it grew on me in later years. This is an odd one, but it's well worth the time to take in at least a few times. Given that my turntable is out of commish, I have the opportunity to revisit this little oddity again. It's been about 7-10 years. Thanks for sharing.
thanks bacoso!
Thanks again

Thanks a lot for sharing this incredible music with everybody, we are not worthy! :D
I wanted to ask you something, is there any chance you could upload again "JOHNNY HAMMOND - GEARS"? I've been looking for that album FOREVER but in my country, Argentina, it's imposible to get it.
Thanks a lot for your contributions!

Thanks, the man has an amazing body of work. I miss the old OIR Bobby Hutcherson photo : (
just the right place to underline that this musician is marvelous at live sets, with an unpaired theatrical presence...and still going !
