CAL TJADER - ALONG COMES CAL

Cal Tjader for Verve from 1967.
PLEASE NOTE:"LOS BANDIDOS" IS "OUR DAY WILL COME" AND VICE VERSA ON THIS DOWNLOAD-THE TRACKS TITLES ARE SWITCHED.

Cal used Chico O'Farril to do the arrangements and conduct this album and it works very well with all the material being latin in origin except "Round about Midnight" which most purists will no doubt hate! As O'Farril says on the sleeve notes "Everybody approaches Round About Midnight so seriously ,we decided to have a little fun with it!"
Big tune on this is ,of course, the tremendous montuno banger "Los Bandidos" which hits a groove and swings like hell-just terrific and one of my favourite Cal tunes. Also of note is a great version of "Samba Do Suenho" which had previously been recorded on "Bamboleate" by Cal and the mighty Eddie Palmieri.
Ripped from the original vinyl @320- surprisingly NO reissues on any format!

Hi Bacoso,
I left a comment on the Shirley Scott post about the track names being in the wrong order on the music files. Same thing here. I get the feeling this problem is endemic to most of your posts. Great albums, but we're just in the dark as to the true track titles.

daniel-just gone thru this and you are right altho "endemic to most of your posts"seems exageratted.(Perhaps you can list which are wrong if this is the case)I use metaservices.windows media.com to save typing out the tracks but dont bother checking it after doing so-I cant get my head round where this fucks up.On this post our day will come is los bandidos and vice versa and this is the only cock up i can see on checking thru.I welcome your comment none the less and thanks for leaving it.

Daniel-checked back thru my last lot of posts very quickly and cant find any more examples of this. Please will you leave a list of the downloads you think are wrong so
1.I can correct them
2.If there are no more to ensure people reading your comment dont believe "we're just in the dark as to the true track titles."
Everything at OIR is ripped from my collection so if its wrong its down to me.
Again thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Bacoso - thanks for the great music!

If you get a chance I'd be grateful for the track "Green Pepper" if it shows up somehow . . . .

It does have something to do with the way the "metadata" is getting encoded. The best hint I can give is when I play these tracks in Winamp, they are never in the correct order. Windows Media player doesn't always arrange them in the right order, but it does show correct track information.

Anyhow, this music is so good I could care less if the tracking isn't working exactly perfect, I'll fix that myself someday....

I just can't get enough Cal!! Keep ripping 8)

We Can't Thank You Enough For All The Great Music!!!

Bacoso, with all due respect to your love for some of the 70's Tjader stuff, which inclues the likes of "The Prophet", this is my all time favorite Cal record by far. This mother of a record sears all that comes within a few feet. My vinyl went to hell long ago so I had relied off of a cassette copy of the LP for nearly two decades. Thanks for this.

Hey Bacoso, please can you upload the song "Green Peppers" from this album?

Thanks a lot.

Los Bandidos is Green Peppers, Our Day Will Come is Los Bandidos, Our Day Will Come is the missing track. You can hear it on You Tube.

Nice LP.
